I have fifteen years experience, separating and coloring comic book pages, for DC Comics and Wildstorm Comics as a staff colorist. I possess Traditional Art skills, Including Color Theory, and the ability to draw, paint, sculpt, and throw pottery. I have an Associates Degree in Commercial Art, from San Diego City College. I can produce Vector Designs, Raster Designs, Page Layout, and Photo Retouching. I can restore Color, and Black and White Art. I can draw Technical Illustrations in 2D and 3D. I can design Web Pages using HTML and CSS. I am a Mac and PC user and an expert in the use of the Wacom Cintiq. I have the ability to train personnel in any of my skills.
David Rodriguez was born January the fourteenth, nineteen sixty five in San Diego California. David grew up in Coronado CA, and attended Crown Elementary School, Coronado middle School, and Coronado High School. In high school he took general education classes, studied art and played football. David lettered in football all four years of high school and was an honorary team captain, and voted best lineman, his senior year. He was named to the all-metro league football team at left guard in 1982. Mr Rodriguez was the recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution American Heritage Award for Art, in 1983.
After high school David attended San Diego City College, where he obtained an Associate Degree in Commercial Art in 1989. Although David had obtained his Associate Degree in Commercial Art he continued studies of Fine Art at San Diego City College, taking oil painting, sculpture, ceramics, and life drawing.
During college David worked at various restaurant jobs including Broiler at what is now known as the Coronado Boathouse. In 1988 David went to work for MCR Electrical as a Street Light Technician. After learning Computer Art and Desktop Publishing from the Regional Occupational Program, David went to work for Wildstorm Comics as a Computer Comic Book Colorist in 1996. Wildstorm Comics was bought out by Warner brothers /DC Comics in 1999. David worked for Warner Brothers/DC/Wildstorm Comics as a Staff Colorist until 2010. After being laid off due to downsizing at Warner Brothers/DC, on December 27, 2010, David has attended San Diego Community College studying Technical Illustration and Web Design.
